Centre Pompidou / d’après Uthis Haemamool / adaptation et mes Toshiki Okada
Dans Rang Haeng Pratano, l’écrivain thaïlandais Uthis Haemamool éclaire l’histoire récente de son pays à travers l’existence – de l’adolescence jusqu’à la quarantaine – d’un artiste-peintre à l’activité sexuelle débridée. Pour sa dernière création, l’homme de théâtre Toshiki Okada s’est emparé de ce roman, transfigurant ce récit de vie à travers « sa chorégraphie à la gestuelle inspirée du quotidien ». Entre intime et politique, l’auteur et metteur en scène japonais fait ainsi apparaître la Thaïlande « comme un corps déformé, meurtri par la soumission à un pouvoir autocratique ». Dans une scénographie signée de l’artiste Yûya Tsukahara, Pratthana – A Portrait of Possession questionne la thématique de la frontière, ainsi que « les moyens d’en effacer les contours ou de les transgresser ». Cela, afin d’essayer de mieux révéler ce qui, malgré nos origines diverses, nous réunit, forme le substrat de notre humanité commune.
