Théâtre des Célestins / de Samuel Beckett / mes Sami Frey
Bien que publiée en 1970 (aux Editions de minuit), c’est 25 ans plus tôt, au milieu des années 1940, que Samuel Beckett écrivit sa nouvelle Premier Amour. Un texte en forme de soliloque – d’inspiration autobiographique – à travers lequel un homme asocial revient sur divers épisodes de sa vie. Considérations sur le quotidien, sur le rapport à soi et à l’autre, sur l’amour, questionnements existentiels : on retrouve, dans cet écrit, les grandes lignes des œuvres qui ont valu sa renommée au Prix Nobel de littérature. « Premier amour (…) fait des aventures de Samuel Beckett, ou pas, en jeune homme – avec ce qu’il est bien obligé, malgré lui, de nommer amour – un récit d’une pathétique drôlerie, d’une naïveté et d’un égoïsme rafraîchissants », déclare Sami Frey, qui reprend aujourd’hui ce monologue créé en 2009. Au sein d’une représentation épurée, centrée sur sa voix, son visage, son regard, le comédien s’empare de la profonde humanité de l’univers beckettien. Il donne corps à sa poésie. Entre dérision et gravité.
