Théâtre Paul Eluard / mes Marcio Abreu
C’est souvent en dialogue avec le réel, avec des problématiques sociales et politiques, que s’inscrit la démarche artistique du dramaturge et metteur en scène brésilien Marcio Abreu. Non pas pour décrire ou illustrer, mais pour proposer un champ de possibles et d’invention, un chemin vers l’inconnu. Sur scène, planter des gens comme on plante un jardin, faire advenir des mots sur ce qu’ils ressentent, ce qu’ils font. Preto, noir en portugais, met en jeu diverses expériences du racisme et de la ségrégation, en se fondant sur le contexte brésilien. La pièce explore et élargit aussi à d’autres horizons les problématiques de la perception de la différence, et de la formation des sensibilités. Le projet s’est nourri du travail de Joaquim Nabuco, politicien brésilien, intellectuel abolitionniste du XIXe siècle, et de La critique de la raison noire, oeuvre du scientifique Achille Mbembe, professeur et homme politique camerounais. Accompagné de la Companhia brasileira de teatro et des artistes qui collaborent avec elle, la pièce est une mise en relation qui vise à ouvrir le sens.
