Opéra Bastille / Chor. Maurice Béjart
L’Oiseau de feu de Maurice Béjart a été créé en 1970, sur la musique d’Igor Stravinsky, pour le Ballet de l’Opéra de Paris avec Michaël Denard dans le rôle-titre. Se voulant « ballet révolutionnaire » six garçons et trois filles (les partisans) vêtus de tuniques mao gros bleu apparaissent sur le plateau. Soudain l’un d’eux ôtant son costume initial révèle un maillot académique rouge qui symbolise l’Oiseau de feu. Si l’argument est daté, la danse a gardé tout son fringant, surtout concernant les superbes variations de l’Oiseau. Créé en 1971 pour Rudolf Noureev et Paolo Bortoluzzi, Le Chant du compagnon errant est un morceau d’anthologie, l’un des premiers pas de deux masculin, créé sur un cycle de lied de Mahler. Ce duo exprime d’une manière saisissante le thème du compagnon errant poursuivi par le destin, qui est à la fois son mauvais ange et son reflet. Enfin, sur la musique entêtante de Ravel, le mythique Boléro, créé en 1961 par une femme, et repris en 1979 pour le danseur Jorge Donn, met en scène une femme ou un homme (la mélodie) qui danse sur une table, tandis que monte le désir des hommes (le rythme) qui le ou la regardent…
