Du fait de travaux effectués sur la scène, le proscenium du Palais Garnier est devenu le lieu de créations hors normes, malgré de nombreuses contraintes. Quatre chorégraphes contemporains, imaginatifs autant que joueurs, car il faut un peu de goût du risque, ont relevé ce pari d’inventer des pièces sur mesure pour un espace resserré. Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui crée Exposure sur la musique de S16, dernier album de Woodkid, artiste multifacette, compositeur et interprète mondialement reconnu, avec des costumes signés Chanel. Damien Jalet a choisi la musique pour piano de Koki Nakano pour Brise-Lames, où se déploient aussi la scénographie et les costumes de JR, as du collage photographique. Mehdi Kerkouche est chorégraphe, metteur en scène et artiste pluridisciplinaire. Plutôt dans la mouvance hip hop, coup de cœur du jury du festival Karavel 2018, il se fait surtout connaître par ses vidéos confinées qui deviennent virales, ou par son rôle dans le film Let’s Dance. Il s’associe à Guillaume Alric, protagoniste du groupe The Blaze pour sa création Et si. Enfin, Tess Voelker est une toute jeune danseuse du Nerderland Dans Theater, à qui Aurélie Dupont a passé commande. Elle crée ici Clouds Inside au son d’une chanson de Nick Drake. Une soirée pleine de fraîcheur et de surprises.
