La Reine Blanche / d’après le film Portrait d’une enfant déchue, de Jerry Schatzberg / adaptation d’Elisabeth Bouchaud / mes Serge Dangleterre
Puzzle of a Downfall Child : tel est le titre original du film de Jerry Schatzberg, qui inspire celui de la pièce adaptée par Elisabeth Bouchaud. Lou Andreas Sand, interprétée à l’écran par Faye Dunaway, a été un célèbre mannequin, mais sa vie d’illusions et de mensonges l’a conduite dans la spirale infernale de la toxicomanie et de la dépression nerveuse, jusqu’à une tentative de suicide. Réfugiée dans une île du New Jersey, elle vit, depuis, complètement isolée du monde, jusqu’à la venue d’Aaron Reinhardt, un photographe de mode qui vient la solliciter pour tourner un film sur sa vie.
Une vie éclatante et éclatée
Elisabeth Bouchaud a adapté ce huis clos émaillé de flash-back en les remplaçant par de la narration, sous la forme d’évocations du passé dans les dialogues entre Lou et Aaron. Au cours de leurs conversations, entre confidences et souvenirs, l’histoire de Lou se recompose comme un puzzle, « éclairant en demi-teintes l’énigme de la vie de Lou, son succès et sa chute, et son étrange rapport aux hommes ». Elisabeth Bouchaud interprète le rôle de cette femme en morceaux et Jean-Benoît Terral joue le rôle du patient et précis photographe qui aide Lou a retrouver son image par le biais du révélateur de l’écoute et du fixateur du récit.
