Un homme d’affaire ruiné souhaitant se donner la mort, sa secrétaire, une famille d’immigrés broyés par la guerre, un jeune délinquant, un homme noir immobile et silencieux… Rien ne prédestinait les membres de cette humanité cosmopolite à vivre le choc de leur confrontation. « Jouant avec l’urgence et le détour, l’étrange et le familier, le grotesque et le sublime, la pièce chemine et trouve une force peu commune dans cette indétermination », explique Philippe baronnet qui souhaite, à travers sa mise en scène, embrasser toutes les strates de Quai Ouest. Plus de trois décennies après sa création en France par Patrice Chéreau au Théâtre Nanterre-Amandiers, c’est aujourd’hui au Théâtre de la Tempête que résonne la « langue singulière et éminemment théâtrale » de cette œuvre rendant compte de la complexité et la violence du monde.
