Ce spectacle, né dans les villages du bocage normand, autour du Préau de Vire, est aussi une déclaration d’amour au Morvan. « Ce monologue est à la fois le parcours d’un personnage et le portrait d’une région. Ce portrait de Charles et de ses paysages est en fait inspiré par un garçon que j’ai entendu, dans un bar du Morvan, au milieu d’une assemblée mélangée réunie autour des chansons populaires, chanter en dépassant la pudeur dans une énergie enfantine assez incroyable », dit Fabrice Melquiot. Charles travaille comme technico-commercial en machines agricoles. Une fois par semaine, il se rend dans un club de karaoké, où il peut « s’abandonner à son idole », Charles Aznavour, dans les chansons duquel on retrouve cet « entêtement à aimer » de Charles pour Maryse, sa femme qui « a des histoires avec d’autres ». Vincent Garanger interprète le monologue de ce chevalier sans costume, dans cette France rurale et pailletée de la fièvre du samedi soir.
