Comment est né le projet de monter un spectacle sur le poète palestinien Mahmoud Darwich ?
Claude Brozzoni : L’idée a mûri lors d’un voyage que j’ai effectué en 2009 sur le chemin de Compostelle. J’ai parcouru presque deux mille kilomètres à pied. Ce fut un voyage dans le temps qui a le temps, celui qui n’a pas de montre. Ce fut l’émerveillement devant ce monde qui m’encercle depuis toujours et que je n’avais jamais vu. Ce fut surtout la découverte d’une musique silencieuse qui ne s’entend que dans le calme, la paix et le silence. Je fus ému et à la fois fasciné, touché en un lieu très profond de moi-même. Au départ de mon voyage, j’avais dans la tête l’idée de travailler sur une forme de spectacle simple, dépouillée, directe. J’avais envie de chants, de paroles fraternelles, de jeu, de beauté. Quelques semaines avant le départ, j’ai rencontré l’œuvre de Mahmoud Darwich, l’un des plus grands poètes arabes contemporains. Sa poésie m’a ému, sa langue m’a touché. Durant tous ces kilomètres, il a voyagé avec moi, tout au fond, bâtissant lentement son nid, peignant des traits, des images et des couleurs sur la paupière de mes yeux, écrivant des musiques au fond de mes tympans et renforçant mon désir de l’extrême beauté et fragilité de son souffle poétique. J’étais chargé de toute une beauté du monde, de l’envie de la chanter, de la dire et de la montrer.

Comment porter cette œuvre à la scène ?
C. B. : Choisir la poésie de Darwich, c’est donner voix à la langue d’un poète qui, malgré l’horreur et le désespoir qu’il a vécus en Palestine, a continué de chanter les hommes, l’amour, la femme, la terre et sa beauté. Lyrique, humaniste et résistante, sa langue est belle. Elle ne se complait ni dans le cynisme, ni dans la détresse. Elle est un cri d’amour qui ressuscite en nous l’espoir qu’on nous vole par la diffusion d’images violentes et de messages d’horreur. J’ai construit ce calmant cérébral pour le plaisir des sens, cet espace simple, tranquille, et épuré, où l’on viendrait seulement pour dire et raconter : un rectangle fait de beaux tapis d’Orient, trois chaises, des micros, des retours, un mur de fond blanc pour peindre une histoire et des sentiments. Nous avons mis en musique, en chansons et en peintures les textes de Darwich, pour un moment d’émotion, de plaisir, d’amour, de fraternité et de beauté.
