Théâtre de Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines / quatuor et orchestre
A l’initiative de la Scène nationale de Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines où il est en résidence, le Quatuor Ardeo rencontre l’Orchestre national d’Île-de-France dans une partition peu connue de John Adams : Absolute Jest. Ce concerto pour quatuor et orchestre fut créé en 2012 en réponse à une commande de l’orchestre symphonique de San Francisco pour la célébration de son centenaire. Il fut interprété alors par le St. Lawrence String Quartet et le chef d’orchestre Michael Tilson Thomas. L’œuvre fut révisée par Adams, peu satisfait de sa première version, qui autorisa son enregistrement en 2015 par les interprètes de la création. Absolute Jest intègre de nombreux extraits d’œuvres de Beethoven, surtout de ses derniers quatuors, ce qui explique que Julien Leroy dirigera lors de ce concert unique la Quatrième Symphonie du grand Ludwig. En ouverture de concert, le Quatuor Ardeo joue seul en scène deux extraits des John’s Book of Alleged Dances (1994) de John Adams et le Troisième mouvement du Quatuor à cordes no 16 en fa majeur opus 135 de Beethoven, le dernier du compositeur écrit en 1826 quelques mois avant sa mort. Entièrement féminin, le Quatuor Ardeo est composé de Carole Petitdemange et Mi-Sa Yang (violon), Yuko Hara (alto) et Joëlle Martinez (violoncelle).
