C’est dans une formation remaniée que le Quatuor Artemis se produit depuis juillet 2007. L’arrivée d’un nouveau violoniste, Gregor Sigl, et d’un nouvel altiste, Friedemann Weigle, aux côtés de la violoniste Natalia Prishepenko et du violoncelliste Eckart Runge n’a cependant pas bouleversé les orientations esthétiques du quatuor. Schubert reste ainsi au cœur du répertoire des musiciens, aussi bien au disque (Quintette D 956 avec le violoncelliste Truls Mørk chez Virgin Classics) qu’au concert. Ils présentent ici le Neuvième Quatuor ainsi que le célèbre Quatuor « La Jeune Fille et la Mort », des œuvres où ils prolongent la tradition que leur ont léguée les quatuors Alban Berg, Emerson ou encore Julliard. Dédicataires en 2005 du Cinquième Quatuor de Jörg Widmann, ils poursuivent leur collaboration avec le compositeur allemand en reprenant le « Choralquartett », créé en 2003 par le Quatuor Arditti.
