QUATUOR A CORDES / DIMANCHE MATIN / THEATRE DES CHAMPS-ELYSEES
Aux Concerts des dimanche matin on cultive à la fois la fidélité aux artistes (Michel Portal sera une fois de plus au rendez-vous, le 3 février dans Schumann et Brahms) mais aussi la découverte de nouveaux talents. Ce sera le cas de ce jeune quatuor madrilène, révélé en 2010 à la Cité de la Musique lors de la Biennale de quatuors à cordes, mais encore très mal connu des mélomanes parisiens. Leur ensemble a vu le jour en 1997 à l’école Reine Sofia sous la protection céleste du grand Pablo Casals. Ces quatre jeunes gens bien dans leur temps (trois espagnols, un américain) vouent un intérêt particulier à la musique du XXè siècle et la création (ils ont beaucoup travaillé avec Gyorgy Kurtag). Leur programme résolument viennois rapproche le Webern post-romantique du Langsamer Satz M.78 du sommet chambriste de Schubert, le Quintette à cordes en ut majeur opus 163 D.956 avec, appelé à la rescousse au violoncelle, l’allemand Eckart Runge, échappé pour l’occasion du Quatuor Artémis. Avec Vera Martínez Mehner (violon), Abel Tomàs (violon), Jonathan Brown (alto) et Arnau Tomàs (violoncelle).
