Le Quatuor de Jérusalem a vu le jour en 1993 dans la ville dont il porte le nom. Primé à Graz en interprétant des œuvres de Kurtág et Bartók et lauréat des BBC New Generation Artists, le jeune carré chambriste israélien gagne très vite sa place dans le circuit international, invité progressivement sur les plus grandes scènes, du Wigmore Hall de Londres au Konzerthaus de Berlin, en passant par Tokyo et New York. Leur discographie chez Harmonia Mundi contribue aussi à leur rayonnement, comme récemment avec un enregistrement du Quatuor "La Jeune Fille et la Mort" de Schubert fort bien accueilli par la critique internationale. Invité de la saison musicale du Louvre, l’ensemble interprète des œuvres de Haydn (Quatuors opus 20 n° 5 et opus 33 n° 2 «La Plaisanterie») et Brahms (Quatuor n° 2). Pour la petite histoire, sachez que Kyril Zlotnikov, le violoncelliste du Jerusalem Quartet, joue sur le violoncelle “Sergio Perresson” de Jacqueline du Pré, prêté par Daniel Barenboim. Avec aussi Alexander Pavlovsky (violon 1), Sergei Bresler (violon 2) et Amichai Grosz (alto).
