Depuis 35 ans, le Quatuor de Tokyo évolue au plus haut niveau dans le cercle
très restreint des meilleurs ensembles du genre au niveau international. En
dépit de nombreux changements, le groupe, formé par quatre étudiants japonais de
la Julliard School de New York en 1969, a su conserver une homogénéité de son et
un équilibre remarquables. Le Quatuor de Tokyo a aussi la chance de s’exprimer
sur le célèbre « Quatuor Paganini », un dispositif d’instruments signés par
Antonio Stradivari, achetés (et joués) par Paganini au XIXe siècle. Le programme
du Quatuor de Tokyo s’organise autour de la création française de Blossoming
du compositeur japonais Toshio Hosokawa, encadré par le Quatuor n°14 (K 387)
de Mozart et le Quatuor n°9 en ut majeur « Razoumovski » de Beethoven. Né
en 1955 à Hiroshima, Hosokawa est le compositeur japonais le plus influent de sa
génération. Déjà programmé à Paris par le Festival d’Automne, il a aussi été
applaudi au Festival d’Aix-en-Provence lors de la création en 2004 de son opéra
Hanjo. Blossoming est une évocation très pure et lumineuse de
l’éclosion des fleurs. Une ?uvre de printemps’
