Parmi les nombreux jeunes et souvent excellents quatuors français apparus depuis une dizaine d’années dans notre paysage musical, le Quatuor Diotima, fondé par des musiciens issus du Conservatoire de Paris et de Lyon, est celui qui affirme avec le plus de force son engagement dans le domaine de la musique de notre temps. Son nom ne fait-il pas référence à une oeuvre de Luigo Nono? Et ne remportait-il pas, dès ses débuts en 2000, le Prix "Musique Contemporaine" du Concours de Quartet de Cordes de Londres ? Dix ans plus tard, invités de la saison de l’Ircam, les Diotima, plus que jamais biens dans leur temps, défendent un captivant programme franco-britannique marqué par la première française du Quatuor à cordes n°6 de James Dillon, la reprise du Quatuor à cordes n°3 de Jonathan Harvey (oeuvre déjà entendue par exemple sous les doigts du Quatuor Ardéo) et bien sûr, la création mondiale de Tensio de Philippe Manoury, oeuvre nouvelle conçue pour quatuor à cordes et électronique. Une nouvelle et prometteuse expérience de confrontation entre technologie et lutherie traditionnelle, dans laquelle le compositeur imagine un contrôle de l’électronique par l’interaction entre les instrumentistes… Réalisation informatique musicale Ircam : Gilbert Nouno.
