Quelqu’un comme vous, pièce de Fabrice Roger-Lacan, aurait pu relever d’une prétention beckettienne, une possibilité déçue. Deux personnages anodins dont nous ne connaîtrons jamais ni l’identité ni la profession exactes s’installent sur le plateau avec le plus bel aplomb possible et la même arrogance pour un duo malheureusement peu infernal. Voilà Quelqu’un (Jacques Weber), un homme d’âge mûr, décideur et socialement reconnu, et Quelqu’un d’autre (Bénabar), un jeune gringalet plutôt sympathique mais dont les occupations restent obscures, pour ne pas dire malhonnêtes. Même s’il se dit « homme de contact », Quelqu’un redoute la proximité avec Quelqu’un d’autre, il aspire à la solitude et au silence – des valeurs qu’il sait obsolètes et dont on se moque largement aujourd’hui, comme la franchise. L’homme d’affaires au repos parle confusément d’appels urgents à recevoir et à donner depuis son mobile. Son partenaire indiscret s’accroche à la présence de son aîné, évoque une baignade bien méritée dans la mer proche et la crème solaire qu’on aurait pu lui passer sur le dos, si ce même voisin de plage avait été un peu plus coopérant.
Deux manières inconciliables d’être
Quelques dissensions sociales implicites et insurmontables surgissent bien vite : « Si mes parents avaient pu se payer des vacances à la mer, ça leur serait pas venu à l’idée de partir sans nous. », dit le jeune donneur de leçons. Le senior rétorque sans vergogne : « On vous farcit la tête depuis la maternelle avec la sainte solidarité. Tout le monde a besoin de tout le monde. C’est le bouillon universel… » Décidément, rien ne va plus ni entre eux, ni entre la scène et la salle qui s’ennuie. Écoutons encore Quelqu’un : « On pourrait espérer un peu plus d’excentricité d’un type qui tue de sang-froid pour gagner sa vie. Mais non. » Le public attendait aussi plus de sel et de piquant, plus de virulence et de force dans ce tête-à-tête entre deux générations, deux présences au monde et deux manières inconciliables d’être. La hargne, la violence et la manipulation, n’étant pas inscrites dans l’écriture, elles ne sont qu’à peine jouées ou simulées, tout juste effleurées. Le spectateur doit se contenter de la présence bienveillante de deux stars, de deux pointures scéniques, l’une de théâtre et de cinéma, l’autre de la chanson. Jacques Weber déploie une immense bonté pour un texte qui ne le mérite pas tandis que Bénabar, le regard habité et dirigé vers le public mais le micro en main en moins, arpente la scène de cour à jardin, en ne se demandant pas le moins du monde ce qu’il fait sur un plateau de théâtre. On s’interroge.
