Ce concert exceptionnel présenté dans le cadre de l’Amphithéâtre de l’Opéra Bastille et de son acoustique épatante est construit en deux parties. La première est dédiée à l’œuvre polyphonique du compositeur grec : Zyia, créée par l’ensemble Solistes XXI en 1994, N’Shima qui marqua en 1991 la première réalisation discographique de l’ensemble de Rachid Safir et enfin Nuits pour 12 voix mixtes, partition majeure et première oeuvre purement vocale du compositeur écrite en 1967. En deuxième partie de concert, Rachid Safir dirigera la première mondiale de Bunraku, œuvre nouvelle du compositeur espagnol José-Manuel Lopez-Lopez inspirée par une forme théâtrale traditionnelle japonaise d’Osaka et conçue comme un hommage à Xenakis dont il fut l’élève à la Sorbonne dans les années 90. « C’étaient mes premières années à Paris et évidemment ces jours lumineux, les tableaux remplis par le Maître de formules et de calculs pour nous expliquer de manière sincère et convaincue les labyrinthes de sa pensée, m’ont marqué profondément. J’ai beaucoup appris auprès de ce Maître à l’esthétique si indépendante » confie José-Manuel Lopez-Lopez.
