« Je fais du théâtre pour le plaisir de naufrager, de me perdre un peu : une des choses les plus salutaires dans la vie. » aime à dire Daniele Finzi Pasca, clown vagabond et metteur en scène, qui a conçu Nomade en 2002 pour le québécois Cirque Eloize et récidive avec Rain – comme une pluie dans tes yeux. Flaques espiègles des jeux d’enfants, rosée acidulée au printemps des amours, fine bruine des premiers chagrins ou orages ombrageux… Rain cherche à saisir ces instants fugaces de l’enfance, délicieusement nimbés de nostalgie. Sur la scène, la troupe semble répéter un spectacle, prétexte au dévoilement d’histoires intimes, de réflexions sur le « nouveau cirque » et autres tours chamailleurs qui désamorcent le sérieux des numéros traditionnels. Entre rire et parodie, mélancolie et bouffonnerie, les artistes enchaînent les tableaux de genre, effeuillant les pages d’un album où l’imagerie lointaine des années folles croise les fantasmagories de l’inconscient.
Un cirque généreux
Les numéros se succèdent ainsi bon train et montrent la variété des disciplines circassiennes comme autant de pieds de nez lancés au cabotinage des muscles et à la performance clinquante de l’esbroufe spectaculaire. Ce qui ne les empêchent pas de déployer toute la maîtrise de cet art, notamment dans un chœur d’acrobaties aériennes aux tissus, un sensuel et ambigu main à main masculin, un tourbillonnant duo de roues Cyr ou un malicieux exercice de contorsion. L’humour, quelque fois pataud, et l’esthétique un brin désuète maquille ce cirque somme toute classique d’une naïve fraicheur, qui heureusement bascule vers des images fortes lorsque la pluie vient à tomber en folles éclaboussures. Rythmée par les cavalcades enjouées du piano, l’envolée de chansons et les incursions d’un Loyal sympathique, cette revue divertissante, généreuse et parfaitement rôdée, offre de beaux moments et dépose au creux du cœur quelques gouttelettes ensoleillées par une lumière, rêveuse et souriante.
