« Ce spectacle, c’est un peu ma vie à travers ma guitare. C’est ce que j’ai aimé le plus : ces musiques, ces gens aussi. Comme Django Reinhardt ou Paco de Lucia qui ont fait ce que je suis car ils m’ont donné toute l’inspiration. « Paris–Séville » symbolise ce qui a bercé ma vie depuis mon enfance. Et, on l’entendra, je ne suis enfermé dans aucun style. » affirme d’emblée Raphaël Faÿs. Ce guitariste d’exception a ouvert dans le flamenco un chemin particulier, qui puise beaucoup dans son histoire personnelle, de ses premières amours jazz héritées du swing manouche et de sa connaissance profonde du répertoire de la guitare classique espagnole jusqu’à sa rencontre magique avec la musique de Paco de Lucia. Le Flamenco de Raphaël Faÿs sonne comme un défi à lui-même et à la tradition, une déclaration d’indépendance vis-à-vis du monde musical, et l’expression d’une intuition. Cette intuition lui a permis de développer une technique particulière de jeu au médiator (jamais utilisé dans le flamenco), ouvrant ainsi une voie dans l’univers hautement codifié de cette musique… Le retour d’un géant fier et solitaire.
