On venait aux « Rencontres » pour découvrir, pour se laisser surprendre, pour sentir les projets émergents… Pour débattre également, se former, témoigner… Lieu de vie et de création à la fois, La Villette se transformait chaque année autour de l’acte artistique dans toutes ses dimensions – danse, théâtre, musique – mais surtout autour d’une parole engagée, nourrie par des parcours et des origines très divers. Aujourd’hui, le Parc de La Villette réorganise son projet au point d’annuler la manifestation dans sa forme festivalière actuelle. S’ensuivront des programmations plus ponctuelles sous la forme de séries, misant davantage sur des formes artistiques reconnues. Reste à savoir maintenant comment les formes émergentes, dont le défrichage était la marque de fabrique de ces Rencontres, pourront trouver un espace de visibilité et d’échanges. Rendez-vous en 2011 ! Mais pour l’heure, on constate que l’ultime édition des Rencontres, avant d’accueillir une nouvelle génération d’artistes, se concentre sur quelques valeurs sûres comme Aktuel Force, Melting Spot ou les Wanted Posse. Ce qui n’est pas forcément un gage de réussite : Gabin Nuissier, pourtant magnifique danseur, livre un duo des plus terre-à-terre sur le thème de l’esclavage.
Une inscription dans la saison créole
Avec Deng Deng ! (qui signifie différent), Farid Berki préfère quant à lui jouer la carte de la rencontre et de l’échange, dans un projet né d’une collaboration avec des danseurs tchadiens. Mêmes envies chez les Wanted Posse, anciens champions du monde de Battle, qui essayent de mettre leur virtuosité au service d’un propos. Racines est née d’une résidence de création en Afrique du Sud, et d’une tentative de revenir aux origines de chacun des membres de la compagnie (Afrique centrale, Afrique de l’Ouest et Asie). A découvrir : la jeune Alexandra N’Possee, qui plante ses danseurs derrière des grilles et leur ouvre les voies de la revendication, et également deux groupes venus des Antilles, la compagnie Christiane Emmanuel et Real Squad.
