« Même dans le domaine de la musique de chambre (à laquelle le nom de Liszt n’est guère attaché), on peut faire de surprenantes découvertes », souligne Hersant en véritable guide éclairé de ce festival original, citant par exemple la transcription pour violoncelle et piano de la Lugubre gondole, ou la version pour piano, violon et violoncelle de la Vallée d’Oberman, deux œuvres au programme du festival. « Une part importante sera réservée aux pièces tardives de Liszt, si originales et si audacieuses, poursuit-il. Loin de cette virtuosité qui semble être la « marque de fabrique » de leur auteur, elles sont étrangement arides et dépouillées. Elles ont fasciné de nombreux compositeurs ; j’ai moi-même rendu hommage au dernier Liszt dans plusieurs de mes oeuvres, notamment dans mon sextuor Im fremden Land ». L’œuvre sera jouée le 4 juin à l’Abbaye cistercienne de La Prée qui abrite la plupart des concerts. Avec Matthieu Lecroart (baryton), Jean-Luc Menet (flûte), Etienne Lamaison (clarinette), Nathalie Chabot et Geneviève Laurenceau (violon), Michel Michalakakos (alto), Fabrice Bihan et Xavier Gagnepain (violoncelles), Alice Ader, Muza Rubackyté et Jonas Vitaud (piano).
