C’est Orphée qui ouvre l’édition 2011 des Rendez-vous chorégraphiques : ce mythe qui questionne en un même mouvement l’amour et la perte, ainsi que le pouvoir de l’art, est une belle introduction au temps fort « danse » organisé comme chaque année par la scène nationale de Sceaux. José Montalvo et Dominique Hervieu, auteurs de cette nouvelle version du mythe antique, en ont fait une fresque unissant danse, musique (Gluck, Monteverdi, mais aussi Philip Glass…), texte et vidéo (du 27 au 30 avril). La semaine suivante, le Ballet de Lorraine nous invite à une soirée répertoire explorant l’héritage chorégraphique américain du XXe siècle. On y découvrira d’abord Sketches from chronicle, de Martha Graham. Créée en 1936, cette pièce paraît prémonitoire : à quelques années de la seconde guerre mondiale, la chorégraphe déployait un paysage de dévastation, parcouru par treize danseuses investies d’une puissance rare. La soirée se poursuivra avec Fabrications, de Merce Cunningham (1987), l’un des jeux d’assemblage et de hasard chers au chorégraphe. Enfin, William Forsythe (qui, bien qu’installé en Allemagne depuis les années 1980, est l’héritier de la grande tradition de son pays natal) présentera Vile Parody of address (6 et 7 mai).
De la musique baroque aux robots ultramodernes
Les Gémeaux accueillent ensuite une compagnie de San Francisco : le ballet d’Alonzo King, qui dansera dans la même soirée Shéhérazade (sur la musique de Rimsky Korsakov, interprétée par Zakir Hussain sur des instruments orientaux anciens) et Dust and Light, qui voit les danseurs passer de l’ombre à la lumière, des chants sacrés de Poulenc aux pièces baroques de Corelli (13 et 14 mai). Pour clore le festival, Adrien Bory présente Sans objet : son incroyable scénographie, une sorte de robot industriel qui devient un personnage à part entière, questionne avec humour et profondeur le rapport de l’homme à la technologie (du 19 au 21 mai).
