Interprété par des « poetas » ou des « repentistas », le Punto
est un genre de poésie chantée et improvisée qui se pratique seul ou à travers
des exercices de joutes oratoires. Mettant l’accent sur la variante cubaine de
cette performance artistique, le Théâtre Claude Lévi-Strauss du Musée du quai
Branly organise une suite de concerts autour des figures centrales de Raoul
Herrera et Luis Martins, deux poètes vachers cubains ayant quitté leurs terres
pour se consacrer aux mots. Plus qu’un chant, le Punto est une « fermentation
du verbe qui ressemble souvent à une mastication sans fin, une véritable transe
verbale habitée de l’imaginaire populaire ». Une transe accompagnée au luth,
au tres, à la contrebasse ou au bongo?, dans une réappropriation de ce qui fut
la forme originale du flamenco.
