OPERA DE VERSAILLES / MUSIQUE SACREE
Il a fallu la mort d’un des plus grands écrivains italiens, Alessandro Manzoni, auteur du célèbre Les Fiancés, pour que Giuseppe Verdi, une des autres figures les plus représentatives du Risorgimento, écrive à sa mémoire sa plus colossale œuvre liturgique : le Requiem. A vrai dire, si la partition suit fidèlement la structure du texte liturgique, c’est davantage vers la théâtralité et l’opéra que la tire Verdi. Contrastes, puissance, mais aussi moments de calme font toute la richesse de cette messe des morts écrite par un compositeur au faîte de sa carrière. Dirigeant l’Orchestre national d’Île-de-France en grand effectif et le chœur de l’Orchestre de Paris, Enrique Mazzola, spécialiste du bel canto, saura certainement galvaniser autant qu’émouvoir le public de l’Orangerie du Château de Versailles.
