Depuis quarante ans, Francis Bardot mène une intense activité au service du chant choral, en particulier en dirigeant de nombreux chœurs d’enfants et plusieurs chœurs amateurs. Associé à l’Orchestre Colonne où il est en charge du chœur, il dirige ici l’une des œuvres que tout choriste rêve d’inscrire à son répertoire : le Requiem de Verdi. Maintenir l’équilibre des voix dans l’acoustique toujours délicate d’une église – et encore, Saint-Eustache n’est pas de ce point de vue la plus ingrate – ne sera pas pour la chef la tâche la plus aisée, mais on sait également à quel point l’esprit des lieux peut pénétrer la vision de l’œuvre. En prélude, Francis Bardot dirige Solar Wind, pièce contemplative pour cordes du Norvégien Kjell Flem, né en 1943.
