Théâtre de Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines / Chorégraphie Béatrice Massin
Armée de douze danseurs, la chorégraphe de la compagnie Fêtes Galantes invite Mozart dans une grande forme chorégraphique qui sied toujours bien à son écriture baroque, à l’aise dans le déploiement de trajectoires complexes dans un espace dilaté. La musique y a toujours une importance majeure, et c’est presque en musicologue que Béatrice Massin aborde cette question dans ses œuvres. Pour autant, le choix du Requiem ne constitue pas une évidence pour cette nouvelle création. Œuvre mythique, très présente dans l’imaginaire collectif, elle est chargée à la fois de sa propre histoire et des images fortes qu’elle provoque chez celles et ceux qui l’écoutent. Que peut la danse face à un tel monument ? Comme toujours, la chorégraphe joue sur les décalages et les détournements de sa propre matière, en donnant au corps le rôle principal.
Mozart en voyage au Mexique
L’idée de cette création est née d’une tournée au Mexique, quand, pendant le fameux jour des Morts, sont apparus à la chorégraphe les signes d’une culture célébrant la mort de façon vitale et décomplexée, parmi mille couleurs et squelettes dansants. Et si cette façon joyeuse et festive d’honorer la mort pouvait rejoindre les valeurs de sa danse baroque, en une célébration totale ? C’est le parti-pris de Requiem – La Mort Joyeuse, qui désacralise la messe funèbre, fait fi de la danse macabre, pour saisir au vol l’énergie vitale d’une communauté liée par un univers visuel très fort. Vidéo (par Yann Philippe), costumes (par Olivier Bériot), et lumières (par Emmanuelle Stäuble) participent d’une écriture en mouvement, jusqu’à l’invitation faite à la musique populaire cubaine et mexicaine d’Arturo Marquez dans son Danzon n°2.
