Le Musée de l’Armée est, par vocation, un lieu de mémoire : mémoire des combats, bien sûr, mais aussi « mémoire de la mémoire » de la guerre. Il est donc tout à fait dans son rôle quand il donne à entendre le rare Requiem de Joseph-Guy Ropartz (1864-1955), composé pour commémorer les vingt ans de l’armistice de 1918 et l’une des œuvres de musique sacrée essentielles du xxe siècle français, au même titre que les requiems de Fauré, Duruflé ou Jehan Alain. L’Orchestre et le chœur de l’Université de Paris, dirigés par Carlos Dourthé, font même coup double avec l’interprétation de la Troisième Symphonie (1847) de Louise Farrenc, chef-d’œuvre oublié du romantisme français.
