« Ecrire, c’est comme être sur une barque au milieu de l’eau, bercé, bousculé par le rythme des vagues, soutient Jon Fosse. Au-dessous, c’est très profond et vous n’avez que cette mince coque entre l’abîme et vous. » L’écriture de l’auteur norvégien exprime en effet toute la densité et toute la profondeur d’un ailleurs dont il souligne la présence. Histoire d’amour obscure inscrite dans une temporalité indécise, Rêve d’automne présente cinq figures énigmatiques. Cinq figures que David Géry a souhaité voir incarnées par Yann Collette, Simon Eine, Gabrielle Forest, Irène Jacob et Judith Magre. « L’objet de mon travail n’est pas de mettre en scène les personnages, les situations, mais les relations qu’ont les personnages dans des situations précises, signale le metteur en scène. C’est cela qui me rattache si fortement à l’écriture de Jon Fosse et c’est pourquoi j’ai voulu réunir une distribution qui, par le frottement de sensibilités très différentes, puisse donner à cette tragi-comédie sa véritable dimension. »
