Le contrebassiste romain Riccardo Del Fra, parisien d’adoption depuis le début des années 80, est un formidable passeur de musique. Ses élèves du département Jazz et Musiques Improvisées qu’il dirige au CNSMD de Paris pourraient en témoigner. Nombre d’entre eux seront d’ailleurs à ses côtés, au sein de l’Ensemble de jazz du Conservatoire national supérieur de Paris, pour ce concert exceptionnel qui rend hommage à deux fabuleux trompettistes et, à travers eux, à l’esprit du jazz… Miles Davis, qui fonde en 1948, avec l’arrangeur Gil Evans, un audacieux nonette au son inédit et signe le légendaire album Birth of the Cool. Et Chet Baker, le trompettiste qui a porté très haut dans le be bop l’art de la ballade. Pour la petite (ou la grande) histoire, rappelons que Riccardo Del Fra fut le dernier contrebassiste de Chet Baker, jusqu’à sa mort en 1988. Avec Hervé Sellin au piano.
