Arrivé en musique par l’accordéon, instrument connoté, marqué par une image
démodée, Galliano a d’abord voulu oublier son instrument en se glissant dans la
peau d’un musicien de jazz comme les autres. Fausse piste. Puis, à la faveur
d’une rencontre marquante avec Piazzolla, opérer, il y a vingt ans, une
véritable révolution sur lui-même. « Astor Piazzolla m’a dit tout d’un coup :
vous avez une image d’accordéoniste de jazz, trop proche des Américains. Ce
n’est pas bon du tout. Retrouvez vos racines françaises. Il faut que vous vous
lanciez dans le new musette, comme moi j’ai inventé le tango nuevo », se
souvient-il. Depuis ce jour, Galliano a construit le parcours d’un musicien
accompli, unique, original, l’un des plus profonds de notre paysage musical. Il
poursuit en tournée son hommage en septet (de luxe) au grand maître argentin.
Auprès de lui, des pointures du jazz ou du classique nommées Hervé Sellin
(piano), Jean-Marc Phillips-Varjabedain (violon) ou Henri Demarquette
(violoncelle).
