Peut-on ailleurs qu’à la Péniche Opéra entendre une création lyrique succéder à un ouvrage heureusement exhumé de Donizetti ? Ici, on ose, ce qui fait partie intégrante de la démarche mise en œuvre depuis près de trente ans par Mireille Larroche pour promouvoir la musique contemporaine. La fondatrice de la Péniche Opéra revendique un parti pris efficace et généreux : « La création contemporaine n’est pas réservée à une élite et nous cherchons à ne pas l’enfermer dans une avant-garde. Nous ne présentons jamais deux créations contemporaines l’une après l’autre. Au contraire, nos spectacles mêlent souvent répertoire et création ». Sous le titre générique « Rita, elle est pas belle, la vie ? », cette soirée lyrique originale jette des passerelles, à un siècle et demi d’écart, entre le monde de Donizetti et celui d’aujourd’hui que met en musique Vincent Bouchot. Le point commun, d’une époque à l’autre ? Les hommes, les femmes – bref, ce qui fait le sel de l’opéra. Vincent Bouchot puise son inspiration à l’intarissable source que sont les Brèves de comptoir de Jean-Marie Gourio ; il livre ainsi ses secondes Cantates de bistrot, après celles délivrées en 2005 dans le même lieu. Et le metteur en scène Alain Patiès souligne une note contemporaine : « La télévision, omniprésente dans les cafés d’aujourd’hui, aura ici sa voix propre, ses propres vocalises ». Un programme stimulant…
