Dernière pièce écrite par Bernard-Marie Koltès, un an avant sa disparition (le 15 avril 1989, à l’âge de 41 ans), Roberto Zucco s’inspire de l’existence du tueur en série italien qui commit plusieurs crimes en France à la fin des années 1980. C’est cette œuvre complexe, exaltée, ce regard profond et personnel porté sur la condition humaine que le directeur de la Comédie de Valence a choisi de mettre en scène à l’occasion de la commémoration du vingtième anniversaire de la mort de l’auteur dramatique. Un anniversaire que Christophe Perton a voulu célébrer, du 14 au 30 avril, à travers des événements théâtraux (parallèlement à la création de Roberto Zucco, Bruno Boëglin présente Koltès Voyages les 22 et 25 avril, spectacle programmé au Théâtre Nanterre-Amandiers en février dernier), mais aussi des propositions cinématographiques (avec notamment la projection de La nuit perdue, film réalisé par l’auteur) et un parcours de quatre expositions photographiques.
Regarder en face le soleil et la mort
Rendez-vous phare de cet hommage, Roberto Zucco retrace l’errance d’un jeune homme à la fois trouble et lumineux, être happé par la confrontation entre son intériorité et les éclats du monde qui lui parviennent. « Je veux partir », proclame-t-il. « Il faut partir tout de suite. Il fait trop chaud, dans cette putain de ville. Je veux aller en Afrique, sous la neige. Il faut que je parte parce que je vais mourir.» Envisageant la pièce comme un « road movie à l’américaine », la représentation élaborée par Christophe Perton veut s’apparenter à « un bal où chaque scène est une danse qui met à jour les contradictions et les fragilités des personnages. ». Une danse aux allures de « ronde tendre, douce et lente » dans laquelle Christiane Cohendy, qui interprète le rôle de la mère de Roberto Zucco*, voit « une métaphysique sans dieu, sans plainte et sans complaisance, ni pour les bourreaux que nous sommes, ni pour les victimes que nous croyons être », une « écriture du monde » qui nous demande de « regarder en face le soleil et la mort ».
