Elle est une des immenses voix du flamenco, il compte parmi les grands virtuoses de la viole de gambe. Andalous l’un et l’autre, Rocio Marquez et Fahmi Alqhai signaient ensemble il y a quelques mois un disque magistral et inclassable célébrant les noces du flamenco et de la musique baroque : « Dialogos de viejos y nuevos sones » (Viavox / L’Autre Distribution). Un projet qui avait remporté deux années plus tôt le prix de l’innovation de la Biennale de Flamenco de Séville et connu sa première française au Festival d’Ambronay en 2017… « La rencontre a pu se faire car chacun a fait la moitié du chemin vers l’art de l’autre, le gambiste Fahmi Alqhai depuis le baroque, moi depuis le flamenco. Sans être experte, j’ai toujours aimé les musiques baroques, mais les codes y sont très différents et très forts : indépendamment du timbre, il faut trouver les territoires communs qui permettent d’établir cette conversation artistique, par exemple au travers du contrepoint mais aussi des paroles, en choisissant des textes anciens et quelques contemporains, dont je puisse m’emparer par l’émotion. », nous confiait récemment la chanteuse. Un concert stimulant.
