Sa familiarité avec la musique d’Olivier Messiaen, qu’ont encore soulignée, en 2008, les célébrations du centenaire de la naissance du compositeur, ne saurait faire oublier à quel point l’art de Roger Muraro convient aussi aux virtuosités romantiques – et notamment à celles de Liszt ou Rachmaninov. Il s’attaque ici à Scriabine et à son Prométhée (1910), œuvre hybride entre le concerto pour piano et la spéculation symphonique (avec l’intervention également d’un « orgue de lumières » !). Le programme proposé par l’Orchestre national de Lyon et son chef Jun Märkl est d’ailleurs on ne peut plus cohérent avec le poème symphonique Prométhée de Liszt et des pages du ballet Les Créatures de Prométhée de Beethoven, ainsi qu’avec Mort et transfiguration de Strauss.
