Dès sa création pour Suresnes Cités Danse, le spectacle de Sébastien Lefrançois a su rencontrer un très large public. Il faut dire que le chorégraphe a réuni les ingrédients essentiels : une histoire puissante à dimension mythique, une musique omniprésente et grandiloquente, une chorégraphie qui suit pas à pas la trame de la narration. Tout est bien cadré et calibré pour que le public ne puisse à aucun moment se perdre ou même rêver. Le hip hop, cantonné à un rôle trop décoratif, suit les aléas de la musique tandis que les corps tentent d’injecter de la vie et de la passion dans la joute amoureuse. Voici un Shakespeare dont le pluriel du titre ne suggère pas l’universalité du projet, trop enfermé dans une imagerie hip hop portée sur l’éclat, la virtuosité et l’ornementation. Trop peu pour ce classique.
