Rusalka a tout pour être un pilier du répertoire des maisons d’opéra. Ce conte lyrique, qui emprunte à la féerie d’Ondine de La Motte-Fouqué et de La Petite Sirène d’Andersen, appelle la capacité d’illusion du théâtre tout en la prodiguant abondamment grâce à une musique voluptueuse, tour à tour ancrée dans les rythmes du folklore tchèque et projetée dans une exaltation de l’esprit par une orchestration magnifique. Le compositeur avait à cette époque (1900) la parfaite maîtrise de son art, illustré par ses neuf symphonies et de nombreux poèmes symphoniques. Le Théâtre du Capitole rappelle fort à propos Stefano Poda, qui avait magnifiquement saisi la poésie et la force symbolique d’Ariane et Barbe-Bleue de Dukas en 2019. La soprano Anita Hartig s’empare du rôle-titre, au côté du jeune ténor Piotr Buszewski, qui fera lui aussi ses débuts dans le rôle du Prince.
