Il n’est jamais facile de monter un classique, encore moins quand il est signé Victor Hugo, tant l’auteur de Ruy Blas a rassemblé dans cette pièce, avec son lyrisme et son sens de l’épique habituels, tous les genres. Comme le remarque Yves Beaunesne, qui a créé sa mise en scène l’été dernier aux Fêtes nocturnes du château de Grignan, le texte tient à la fois du conte de fée, du mélodrame, de la tragédie sociale, du drame romantique et de la comédie. C’est dire si la distribution compte pour faire entendre la langue fougueuse de Victor Hugo se déployer dans tous ces registres. Avec une troupe de choix incluant pour la jeune garde François Deblock (Ruy Blas), qu’on a souvent vu chez Jean Bellorini, et Noémie Gantier (la Reine), repérée chez Julien Gosselin, ou, pour les plus anciens, l’excellent Thierry Bosc dans le rôle de Don Salluste, Victor Hugo est bien servi.
