Ils sont quatre. Serrés côte à côte sur un canapé décati. Ou plutôt les uns contre les autres, avec la mère au centre d’eux autant que d’elle-même. Chacun tente de raconter son histoire, de percer avec les mots une solitude soudée en épais murs… de partager la banalité de l’existence. La mère affronte la crise existentielle de la quarantaine, tournille dans ses petits bobos et submerge son entourage d’un énorme vague à l’âme. Les trois autres, c’est-à-dire le fils, une amie, un voisin, se livrent aussi à cette auscultation clinique de leur quotidien. Dans l’indifférence totale. « Ces histoires ne sont ni géniales ni spéciales, mais elles ont une importance capitale pour eux. C’est tout ce qu’ils ont. » observent Nataša Rajković et Bobo Jelčić, qui épinglent drôlement la « malédiction qui nous touche tous : l’égocentrisme. ». Dans S druge strane (De l’autre côté), les artistes croates ont prélevé en entomologistes des fragments de vie et éclats de quotidien qu’ils assemblent en une pièce douce-amère où se mêlent réel et fiction, acteurs et personnages.
