Après une carrière de danseuse étoile et directrice du Ballet national de Marseille, Marie-Claude Pietragalla a fondé sa compagnie en 2004, avec son complice Julien Derouault. Dans Sade ou le théâtre des fous, ils s’inspirent d’un épisode de la vie du Marquis : Sade observe les « fous » incarcérés avec lui à l’asile de Charenton. Or les fous « imitent les puissants qui les ont enfermés ». De leurs pulsions, de leurs plaisirs dérobés naît une atmosphère infernale, qui doit aussi beaucoup à la création sonore : la musique électronique de Laurent Garnier côtoie des airs baroques et rencontre la voix d’Alain Delon donnant à entendre, en un contrepoint troublant, la langue du XVIIIe siècle.
Un regard à inventer
Sade ou le théâtre des fous est aussi une pièce déconcertante. Nous ne sommes plus habitués à voir dans une pièce de danse des personnages grimés, incarnant des « rôles » au sens théâtral, ni des mouvements rattachés à une narration, invitant à une lecture littérale. C’est l’expérience que proposent les deux chorégraphes : trouver un regard qui permette de se laisser entraîner dans l’univers chatoyant et l’investissement corporel proposés ici. Ce sera également l’occasion d’admirer à nouveau Marie-Claude Pietragalla, qui dans ce déferlement de violence parvient à faire jaillir des moments suspendus, liquides, qui rappellent la force de la danse, quel que soit le cadre esthétique dans lequel elle se déploie.
