Depuis 2000, la programmation de Royaumont a élargi sa palette de couleurs sonores, en particulier sous l’influence du programme « Musiques orales et improvisées » que dirige Frédéric Deval. « C’est un laboratoire de croisements des genres musicaux… Le but n’est pas d’additionner des composants, mais de créer un métalangage. Et au-delà des styles, ce qui m’importe c’est de faire se rencontrer des personnalités » explique-t-il. Parmi elles, le pianiste, organisateur, compositeur et improvisateur Andy Emler joue les premiers rôles dans le cadre d’une résidence courant jusqu’à 2011 : « Je m’inscris dans cette tradition « classique » à travers un sincère désir d’écriture » rappelle le leader du MegaOctet, formation-phare du jazz européen, soulignant au passage que « l’on n’a pas trouvé de terme générique pour ces musiques savantes qui utilisent aussi l’énergie, le groove, l’instinct, l’animalité du musicien… ». A Royaumont, Andy Emler et son MegaOctet seront en concert le 19 septembre à 15 h dans le cadre des « Journées du Patrimoine » puis, les 8, 9 et 10 octobre à 20h45, pour la création du projet « Du Slam à l’Atlas » signé Emler qui réunit le slameur Dgiz, le chorégraphe Taoufiq Izeddiou, des jazzmen français et des musiciens traditionnels marocains.
