Décliné en week-ends de la fin du mois d’août aux débuts de l’automne, ce festival toujours aussi largement ouvert à l’interdisciplinarité porte cette année encore ses promesses de découvertes. Le premier week-end explore l’univers de l’oratorio, de ses origines romaines avec Gianluca Capuano et Il Canto d’Orfeo (œuvres de Carissimi) aux évolution qu’en proposera Marc-Antoine Charpentier dans ses Histoires sacrées (Histoire de Sainte Cécile Vierge et martyre par Sébastien Daucé et l’ensemble Correspondances). De voix en voix, le programme s’oriente alors vers la mélodie religieuse du xixe siècle (récital voix et orgue de Françoise Masset) puis vers les harmonies étranges du xxe siècle, autour de Lux aeterna de György Ligeti. Haut lieu de la création contemporaine, Royaumont accueille cette année le nouveau projet de l’Ensemble Modern de Francfort, une « académie » permettant à quatre jeunes compositeurs – deux Allemands (Birke Bertelsmeier et Martin Grütter) et deux Italiens (Clara Iannotta et Gabriele Vanoni) de se confronter à l’écriture symphonique sous la supervision des membres de l’ensemble. Par la suite, on retrouvera à Royaumont des artistes habitués des lieux tels le Quatuor Diotima ou Les Paladins de Jérôme Correas.
