Même si l’on n’est pas convaincu par ses choix souvent conservateurs en matière de mise en scène, il faut reconnaître au nouveau patron de l’Opéra de Paris, Nicolas Joël, le grand mérite de donner sa chance aux musiciens français. Dans cette reprise de Salomé de Richard Strauss mise en scène par le talentueux Lev Dodine, on pourra ainsi entendre aux côtés du rôle-titre tenu par Camilla Nylund, le baryton Vincent Le Texier en Jochanaan (qui a enthousiasmé public et critique à la rentrée dans Wozzeck) et le ténor Xavier Mas en Narraboth, sans oublier dans les seconds rôles Eric Huchet ou encore Vincent Delhoume. Mais surtout, on a plaisir à retrouver à la direction Alain Altinoglu, l’une de nos meilleures baguettes dans le répertoire lyrique, comme on a encore pu s’en rendre compte cet été dans Orphée aux enfers d’Offenbach au Festival d’Aix-en-Provence. Ce trentenaire, premier chef invité de l’Orchestre national de Montpellier, sait parfaitement guider les chanteurs – ce qui est peut-être normal quand on a pour épouse la mezzo-soprano Nora Gubisch !
