Le principe du recommencement, d’un processus en perpétuelle réécriture, de ces élans contrariés et ces allées et venues incessantes, Maguy Marin l’avait déjà expérimenté, poussé à son paroxysme dans Turba où l’accumulation régnait sur un monde étrange. Si Salves est aussi conforme à ce principe, c’est dans l’idée d’un épuisement face à une séquence qui se reproduit mais dont le développement ou l’issue sont sans cesse à redécouvrir, en constant renouvellement. Dans cet espace qui pourrait être celui d’un intérieur, les danseurs arrivent par salves, emportant avec eux dans une déferlante la petite histoire et la grande histoire.
Un monde qui passe ou qui casse
A l’intérieur règne un chaos minutieusement écrit : les sept danseurs y sont les manutentionnaires d’un espace dessiné par des planches, agencé par des tables d’où les corps disparaissent, réduit par des murs où s’accrochent une maxime urgemment écrite à la craie ou des tableaux issus d’un imaginaire partagé par tous. Flashs, explosion, bribes de radio, tout concourt à installer une étrange atmosphère, imprégnée de la présence de personnages et de symboles forts : Elvis et Guernica côtoient la République ou la Vénus Hottentote, la Liberté s’écroule en mille morceaux, de même que ce vase que l’on tentera maintes fois de recoller. Ici tout est vain, comme de s’installer à table pour un banquet, comme l’arrivée du Christ rédempteur… A l’exception du travail de Maguy Marin, qui pose comme essentiel et manifeste son acte chorégraphique.
