FESTIVAL DE L’IMAGINAIRE / RITUEL AFRO-CUBAIN / LES LILAS
Dans la déportation qui a contraint des millions d’Africains à traverser l’Atlantique, ceux-ci gardèrent malgré les privations en mémoire leurs cultes, qu’ils durent adapter à une nouvelle réalité. Ce syncrétisme interafricain et afro-cubain féconda des répertoires musicaux codifiés, où la percussion et le chant incitent à communier avec les esprits. C’est à ceux-là que s’adresse le groupe San Cristóbal de Regla, fondé en 1953 dans l’un des anciens ports de débarquement des esclaves à La Havane. Sous l’autorité d’Andres Balaez, l’ensemble perpétue ces savoirs, transmis de génération en génération, longtemps tenus secrets et désormais exposés sur les scènes du monde entier. De quoi initier le public européen à ces pratiques « mystiques » censées ouvrir les portes de l’invisible.
