Avignon Off / Île Piot / conception de Julien Pierrot, Thibaut Lezervant et Sonia Massou / mise en scène de Cécile Massou
Pratiquant des disciplines différentes – le main-à-main, le jonglage et la scénographie –, riches d’expériences professionnelles elles aussi diverses, les artistes qui fondent en 2017 le collectif Rafale cherchent à créer « un langage scénique commun par la rencontre de leurs techniques et univers artistiques respectifs ». Dans leur première création, Sanctuaire Sauvage, ils se basent sur l’expérience de deux des membres du groupe, les sœurs Sonia et Cécile Massou, respectivement voltigeuse et scénographe. Ayant grandi avec un père aveugle, elles cherchent avec leurs complices Julien Pierrot et Thibaut Lezervant à développer d’autres manières de ressentir le cirque que par la vue. Par le son, la chaleur, la vibration…
Le son du cirque
Librement inspiré des récits de personnes aveugles, Sanctuaire Sauvage place le spectateur dans un espace singulier, traversé par toutes sortes de sons. Par quelques mots aussi, qui dessinent l’histoire de deux sœurs dont le père, aveugle, n’a jamais pu les voir. Rien d’autobiographique toutefois dans cette pièce : l’important, pour le collectif Rafale, est de proposer au public une expérience sensorielle centrée sur les énergies décrites par les personnes aveugles. Et sur leur manière de ressentir à la fois le passé, le présent et le futur. Avec le collectif Rafale, le cirque renverse les sens.
