Théâtre de la Ville au Théâtre des Champs-Elysées / par Sankaï Juku / Création mondiale
Né à Yokosuka le 31 décembre 1949, Ushio Amagatsu a déjà raconté son enfance dans l’immédiat après-guerre et cette odeur de suie qui enveloppa ses plus jeunes années, retombée des cendres d’Hiroshima. D’où peut-être la naissance de son intérêt pour le butô, cette nouvelle danse engendrée au cœur de ces mêmes ténèbres. Avec ses corps nus, entièrement poudrés de blanc, ses éclairages qui racontent l’aube et le crépuscule, le passage des saisons ou le fond des mers, et sa gestuelle expressive, il invente une danse butô très personnelle. De pièce en pièce, il trace des gestes où prennent place les racines de sa danse, de ses sensations, de son imaginaire créatif. Sa compagnie Sankaï Juku, qui signifie « atelier de la montagne et de la mer », est une troupe exclusivement masculine. Evoluant en indolentes métamorphoses, tout en lenteurs qui retiennent le temps et déploient tout l’univers, toute création des Sankaï Juku est un événement esthétique singulier. Imprégnées de la force et de la beauté de la nature, ces créations sont éblouissantes. Gageons que celle-ci ne détonnera pas.
