On a vu Alessandro Sciarroni s’intéresser aux danses bavaroises et tyroliennes, au jonglage avec massues, au rire, à la pirouette classique sur pointes… A chaque fois, il extirpe un geste ou une action de son contexte, en décolle des variations minimalistes, joue sur la répétition pour nous hypnotiser. Avec Save the last dance for me, il offre au public, placé en proximité des danseurs, une performance à couper le souffle. Le rythme enlevé de la musique électro révèle une danse presque perdue du début du XXe siècle, pratiquée par des hommes de la région de Bologne : la Polka Chinata. Aux allures de danse de salon, elle enchaîne des petits pas presque glissés vers une étreinte tournoyante qui, prise dans la vitesse et la virtuosité, se rapproche du sol et repousse ses propres limites. A travers son approche de chercheur et d’historien, le chorégraphe propose une expérience profondément joyeuse et enivrante.
