La Sacem convoque cette soirée avec pour objectif de « favoriser l’émergence d’une création contemporaine de qualité ». Le pari paraît gagné d’avance. Deux groupes bien connus des jazzfans parisiens se partagent la scène. Le contrebassiste Diego Imbert, musicien buissonnier et polyvalent, familier de sensibilités musicales plurielles (du jazz manouche avec Bireli Lagrene aux musiques latines), inscrit avec autorité et audace son quartet dans le paysage du jazz contemporain, avec David El-Malek (saxophone ténor), Alex Tassel (bugle), Franck Agulhon (batterie). Encore mieux identifié, le trio réuni autour du génial pianiste italien Giovanni Mirabassi depuis 2007 (avec Gianluca Renzi à la contrebasse et Leon Parker à la batterie) développera son jazz sensuel au swing frémissant et ensoleillé. « Mes acolytes me donnent des ailes : tout devient simple, l’entente et les échanges sont immédiats et parfaitement naturels… J’aime chez Leon Parker et chez Gianluca Renzi les mêmes choses, bien que ce soient des musiciens très différents : le swing, la précision, le sens mélodique, la créativité, mais surtout la grande générosité sur scène. Et puis il y a entre nous quelque chose d’extraordinaire, de magique. Je ne trouve pas d’autre mot » nous confiait récemment le pianiste. Ce bonheur s’entend dans chacune des notes jouées par ce trio d’exception.
