Ivo van Hove, l’un des metteurs en scène les plus talentueux de la scène européenne, est un familier de la Maison des Arts de Créteil. L’une de ses caractéristiques principales est sans doute sa capacité à créer un rapport de proximité unique avec le public, pas seulement parce que celui-ci peut parfois se déplacer librement sur le plateau, mais surtout grâce à la qualité de jeu des acteurs, dont les visages en gros plan sur écran affichent leur fragilité et leur sincérité. Le souci du détail scrute ici sans concession l’intime des relations humaines. On se souvient avec émotion des sublimes Tragédies romaines présentées lors du Festival d’Avignon 2008, créées à partir de Coriolan, Jules César et Antoine et Cléopâtre. On se souvient aussi de l’agonie inéluctable d’Agnès dans le cruel Cries and Whispers présenté à Créteil, d’après Bergman. Scènes de la vie conjugale, pièce présentée pour la première fois en France, devrait être un grand cru.
Qualité d’introspection
Le couple de Johan et Marianne est interprété par trois duos d’acteurs différents, ce qui permet de mieux mettre à nu les diverses étapes de la vie de couple, et de créer des jeux de miroirs fascinants. A chaque nouvelle séquence, le public est invité à se déplacer autour de la scène. Bergman est un observateur hors pair du couple et du mariage, de ses cadres, travers, dérives et autres faux-fuyants. Car dans le film très vite à partir d’une scène inaugurale de couple épanoui et à l’aise, le cinéaste fait tomber les masques et plonge derrière les miroirs, au cœur des sentiments en une sorte d’autopsie sans détours, mettant à jour les contradictions, les forces et les faiblesses de chacun. Ivo van Hove expose sur la scène cette rarissime qualité d’introspection. A voir !
