En 1995, Ea Sola entame une création à partir de la mémoire de la guerre du Vietnam, avec, pour interprètes, des femmes qui avaient porté les armes. Ces dernières sont aujourd’hui très âgées. Est-ce à dire que Sécheresse et pluie devait s’éteindre avec elles ? En 2011, la chorégraphe recrée la pièce avec d’autres femmes : plus jeunes, elles n’ont pas vécu la colonie française, ni combattu pendant la guerre. Mais, présentes au front, elles chantaient pour les soldats. Comme le résume Ea Sola, « au lieu de tuer pour la survie, elles ont fredonné et calmé la blessure« . Aujourd’hui, elles nous invitent à plonger dans les chants traditionnels du Vietnam, et à découvrir ces voix et ces corps porteurs d’une histoire qui les dépasse. Sans combattre, sans dénoncer, simplement en se mettant à l’écoute, Ea Sola nous propose un voyage dans la mémoire d’un pays, dans la mémoire du monde.
